Tobacco Control Series

According to the Centers for Disease Control, smoking is the leading cause of preventable death. Understanding tobacco, how to determine dependence, and best practices for treatment are overarching goals of this training series. In the first module we introduce you to tobacco; through the course you will learn how to discern fact from myth. In the second module, you will learn more about tobacco dependence. In the third module, you will learn how to assess and diagnose tobacco dependence and how to use motivational interviewing. In the final module, you will learn best practices to treat tobacco dependence, including using the 5 As (Ask, Advise, Assess, Assist, Arrange) and the Health Belief Model.

It is recommended that you take these courses in the order they are listed.
